Looking for a luxury family-friendly resort in Orlando that feels just as exciting for the kids as it does relaxing for the adults? The Ritz-Carlton Orlando, Grande Lakes may be one of the best family resorts in Orlando—especially if you’re visiting over Fourth of July weekend.

There are two kinds of family vacations in Orlando.
There’s the kind where you wake up before the sun, throw a million snacks and bottles of sunscreen into a backpack, hunt down everyone’s water bottles, spend half the morning standing in line and somehow end the day completely exhausted.
And then there’s The Ritz-Carlton Orlando, Grande Lakes.

We spent time at Grande Lakes around the Fourth of July, and despite The Ritz-Carlton’s reputation for sophisticated luxury, one of the things that surprised us most was just how incredibly family-friendly this Orlando resort really is.
This isn’t simply a beautiful hotel that happens to allow children.
Grande Lakes creates an entire resort experience around families, combining luxury accommodations, incredible dining, sprawling pools, a lazy river, waterslides, children’s activities and seasonal events with the polished service you expect from The Ritz-Carlton.
And during Fourth of July weekend, the resort becomes a destination of its own.
You could easily spend an entire holiday weekend here without leaving the property and still feel like you’ve experienced an incredible Orlando family vacation.
Why Families Will Love The Ritz-Carlton Orlando, Grande Lakes
Grande Lakes is set across a sprawling 500-acre property in Orlando, creating the feeling of a true resort escape while keeping families within easy reach of the area’s biggest attractions.
That means you can plan the quintessential Orlando vacation—Disney, Universal, SeaWorld and everything else on your family’s wish list—without sacrificing the relaxing resort experience you actually want from a vacation.
And that balance is one of the biggest reasons Grande Lakes stands out.

Spend the morning exploring Orlando, and then return to a resort where swimming, waterslides, dining and family activities are waiting for you.
Or skip the theme parks entirely for the day.
There is enough happening at Grande Lakes that staying at the resort doesn’t feel like taking a day off from vacation.
It feels like part of the vacation.
Fourth of July at Grande Lakes Orlando

If you’re considering visiting Orlando for Fourth of July, Grande Lakes takes the holiday seriously.
During our visit, the resort’s seasonal Summer by the Lake programming transformed the property into an upscale Fourth of July celebration filled with activities for both kids and adults.
Families could enjoy inflatable water slides, face painting, balloon artists, lawn games, family challenges, poolside entertainment, special dining experiences and evening festivities.
It’s one of those rare vacation experiences where parents don’t have to constantly figure out what everyone is doing next.
Walk outside and something is happening.
The adults still get the gorgeous landscaping, sophisticated restaurants and Ritz-Carlton service, while the kids get to run around, swim and play.
That’s exactly the combination I want from a luxury family resort.
The Inflatable Water Slides & Aquaventure Were a Huge Hit

Let’s start with the obvious kid magnet: THE INFLATABLE WATER SLIDES & AQUAVENTURE.
During the Fourth of July festivities, giant inflatable water slides took over the Da Vinci Lawn, giving kids another way to cool off and have fun without even having to go to the main waterpark.
Aquaventure is the ultimate water obstacle course featuring balance beams, bridges and inflatables that are suspended four feet off the ground.
And these weren’t the kind of inflatable slides and obstacle course where your child went down once and said, “That was cool.”
It was more of a climb. Slide. Run back. Climb. Slide. Run back. Repeat until Mom says we’re done.
You know the drill.
The whole thing added this incredibly fun, casual energy to the Fourth of July celebration. Kids were running around, families were hanging out, and there was always something happening.
It felt less like staying at a luxury hotel and more like someone had taken the best Fourth of July family party imaginable and dropped it into the middle of a Ritz-Carlton.
Fancy? Yes. Fun? Absolutely. Kids covered in water and sunscreen? Also absolutely.
An Orlando Luxury Resort With a Waterpark

Then there’s the waterpark.
For families searching for an Orlando resort with a waterpark, this may be one of Grande Lakes’ biggest selling points.
The resort experience includes waterslides, a quarter-mile lazy river and kid-friendly water areas, making it easy to dedicate an entire afternoon—or an entire day—to the pool.
The Headwaters Slide Tower gives adventurous kids another reason to keep going back, while the lazy river is perfect when everyone is ready to slow things down.
During a hot Orlando summer, having this much water-based entertainment directly at your resort is a major advantage.
There’s no complicated plan required.
Swimsuit. Sunscreen. Pool.
Done.
There Are Activities Everywhere

What impressed me most about the Fourth of July weekend wasn’t one huge attraction.
It was how many smaller experiences were happening throughout the resort.
There were lawn games, face painting, balloon artists, family challenges, poolside entertainment, steel drummers and plenty of opportunities to grab food or a drink without interrupting the fun.
It created an atmosphere where families could be spontaneous.
You weren’t constantly checking an itinerary or rushing across town because you had reservations for the next activity.
You could simply see what sounded fun and go do it.
For parents traveling with children of different ages, that flexibility is incredibly valuable.
A Luxury Orlando Resort That Actually Plans for Families

A lot of hotels describe themselves as family-friendly.
Grande Lakes feels like it actually plans for families.
There’s a difference.
The resort’s Fourth of July programming included the Grande Family Classic, giving guests of different ages opportunities to participate in lawn games, team challenges and family activities together.
You didn’t need to wake everyone up at 6 a.m., rush through breakfast and have a perfectly coordinated Orlando itinerary to give the kids an exciting day.
They could swim.
They could hit the waterslides.
They could play games.
They could get their faces painted.
They could chase down a balloon artist.
Or they could simply spend half the afternoon floating around the pool until their fingers looked like raisins.
Sometimes those are the vacation days kids remember most.
Dining at The Ritz-Carlton Orlando, Grande Lakes

Then we have to talk about something every parent eventually thinks about on vacation:
Where are we eating?
Grande Lakes makes this part remarkably easy.
During Fourth of July weekend, Highball & Harvest offered a special holiday buffet featuring local flavors with a patriotic twist.
There were also casual options throughout the resort and around the pool, which meant families didn’t have to completely change gears just because someone suddenly announced they were starving.
And if you’ve traveled with kids, you know that announcement usually comes approximately seven minutes after they insisted they weren’t hungry.
The real advantage is having both casual family dining and elevated dining available within the same resort.
Grande Lakes is home to multiple dining experiences, including Knife & Spoon, giving adults an opportunity to turn part of the vacation into something a little more special.
That flexibility is another reason the property works so well for multigenerational trips and families who don’t want to choose between a luxury vacation and a kid-friendly one.
Fourth of July Fireworks Without Leaving the Resort

As much fun as the daytime activities were, one of my favorite parts happened after the sun went down.
The Fourth of July celebrations continued into the evening with entertainment and special programming, including opportunities for families to enjoy experiences such as movies under the stars.
Then came the grand finale:
Fireworks over Grande Lakes.
And here’s the best part.
We didn’t have to drive anywhere.
No loading exhausted kids into the car.
No searching for parking.
No fighting Orlando holiday traffic.
No trying to find the perfect fireworks viewing spot alongside thousands of other visitors.
We were already at our resort.
We could simply enjoy the evening and watch the sky light up.
After spending the day swimming and playing, being able to end Fourth of July this way felt like the ultimate luxury—and I’m not talking about thread count or marble bathrooms.
Sometimes luxury on a family vacation simply means making everything easier.
You Could Spend an Entire Day Without Leaving Grande Lakes

This may be my favorite thing about staying at The Ritz-Carlton Orlando, Grande Lakes.
You don’t have to leave.
Of course, you’re in Orlando.
Someone is probably going to want Disney.
Someone else is going to vote for Universal.
And someone in the family will inevitably have an entirely different plan.
Grande Lakes makes an excellent home base for exploring Orlando’s attractions, but the resort also gives you a reason to build downtime into the itinerary.
After a long day exploring a theme park, returning somewhere the kids can swim, float around the lazy river, grab something to eat or simply relax feels completely different from returning to a standard hotel room.
The resort itself becomes part of the destination.
And for families, that’s a major distinction.
Luxury Meets “Let the Kids Be Kids”

The Ritz-Carlton is known for luxury, and Grande Lakes absolutely delivers on that experience. But one of the things I loved most about this resort is that families don’t feel like they have to sacrifice fun for the kids in order to enjoy a more elevated vacation.
Kids can actually be kids here. They can race down waterslides, float around the lazy river, play outside, join in family activities, grab a poolside treat and spend the afternoon doing exactly what kids are supposed to do on vacation—having fun.
And the family-friendly experience doesn’t end when the sun goes down. Ritz Kids offers dedicated children’s programming, and during our summer visit, the resort offered Kids Night Out at Ritz Kids on select evenings. It’s such a great addition to a luxury family vacation because the kids get an experience that feels like it was created just for them, while parents have the opportunity to enjoy a little time of their own.
Kids get to be kids. Adults get to feel like they’re actually on vacation.
And everyone goes home happy.
Is The Ritz-Carlton Orlando, Grande Lakes Worth It for Families?
Absolutely—especially if you’re looking for a luxury Orlando resort that offers enough activities to become part of the vacation itself.
Families who want to combine Orlando’s theme parks with pool days, waterslides, great dining and a more elevated resort experience will find a lot to love here.
And if you’re planning an Orlando Fourth of July getaway, the holiday programming makes the property even more compelling.
For me, the perfect family vacation doesn’t mean packing every possible attraction into every possible hour.
Give me the waterslides.
Give me great food.
Give me a gorgeous resort.
Give the kids plenty to do.
Give me fireworks at night.
And please, for the love of all things holy, let me avoid Orlando traffic at least once.
Grande Lakes manages to give families a little bit of everything: Orlando adventure, Ritz-Carlton luxury and the kind of relaxed family fun that actually makes a vacation feel like a vacation.
Inflatable slides by day.
Fireworks over the lake by night.
And somewhere in between, you might actually get to relax.
Now that’s a vacation.
Why We Recommend It
The DIY Hostess Pick for Families
The Ritz-Carlton Orlando, Grande Lakes stands out because it gives families something that can be surprisingly difficult to find in Orlando: a true luxury resort experience that is just as much fun for the kids as it is for the adults.
Between the waterpark, lazy river, waterslides, family activities, incredible dining and beautiful resort setting, there is enough here to make the hotel part of the vacation—not simply the place you return to after visiting the theme parks.
We especially love Grande Lakes for families who want to experience Disney, Universal and everything Orlando has to offer while still building relaxing resort days into their trip. During special weekends like Fourth of July, the additional activities and entertainment make staying on property even more worthwhile.
